The feature story is written with the intention of informing the reader.  This particular feature story was  written with the intention of informing the reader about the possibilities available to them in the world of portable electronics with the goal of making the reader comfortable enough to try picking up a device for the first time.  It is written in the format of a buyer's guide so that the reader can take in all of the information and then draw their own conclusions.
